A Tanque Verde High School senior took first place in a national veterinary science competition. 

Meghan Marner, a JTED @ Tanque Verde Veterinary Assistant student, beat out nearly 200 others to win a $1,000 scholarship at the National FFA Veterinary Science Career Development Event, held  in Louisville, Ky.

The National Veterinary Science CDE challenges students to apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations. 

Marner's classmate, Miriam Solinsky, placed 13th in the same individual competition. The JTED FFA Veterinary Science team — including Sarah Knight, Kayla Garard, Marner and Solinsky — competed against 43 other teams to take home a sixth-place finish.
