Cornerstone Christian Academy will celebrate the Bard at its 16th annual Shakespeare Festival Friday. 

The festivities start at 3:30 p.m. at the school, 6450 N. Camino Miraval, and will feature strolling minstrels, an outdoor theater, games and jousting, said a news release from the school. 

Sword fighting and period dancing will be demonstrated by members from the Society of Creative Anachronism. 

Students in kindergarten through fourth grade will give performances based on Shakespeare's works, student artwork will be on display in the Shakespeare Museum and food will be available. 

At 6:30 p.m. Catalina Foothills Church, west of the school campus, will become the Globe Theatre where sixth graders will perofrm "As You Like It," and fifth graders will perform "Characters on the Couch," a play by Amy Hart which focuses on the lives of Shakespearean characters after their stories have ended.
