7 Tucson seniors gets Elks' scholarships

The Tucson East Elks Lodge #2532 awarded more than $10,000 in scholarships to seven local high school seniors.

Two students were given the $800 Tucson Lodge Scholarship — Jacob W. Bernknopf of Rincon High School, and Maya I. Wallace of Sabino High School. Four students were given the $1,200 Arizona Elks Association Most Valuable Student Scholarship — Charles U. Ezeugwu of Sabino, Caitlin S. Barner of Salpointe Catholic High School, Grace L. Gainey of Cienega High School and Natalie P. Scibilia of University High School. Taking home the $4,000 Arizona Elks Association National Finalist Scholarship is Michael R. Bargerof Vail Academy and High School.

Students were selected based on grades, community service, extra curricular activities, and letters of recommendations from counselors.

The scholarships were made possible through membership contributions, lodge fundraisers and the Elks National Foundation.
