A Tucson educator has been named a finalist in the Target Presents PEOPLE All-Star Teachers campaign.

Teresa Durazo, a teacher at Esperanza Elementary School, is one of 90 finalists named as part of the campaign, which celebrates remarkable teachers who make an impact on the lives of their students and communities.

Fans are encouraged to visit allstarteachers.com to view the full list of finalists — three representing each Major League Baseball club — and to vote on their favorite stories through June 29. Durazo is representing the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The fourth-grade teacher was chosen by her principal to head the fourth grade math department, placed in charge of curriculum development and was named student council leader as well. She is the fourth grade team leader and is involved in organizing many of the school’s extracurricular activities.

Thirty winners will be announced prior to All-Star Week. Winners will be recognized during the pre-game ceremony of the 2014 MLB All-Star Game on Fox. One winner will be featured in PEOPLE during the week of the MLB All-Star Game.
