Two Tucson-area math teachers have been honored with a Math Hero Award from Raytheon.

Azat Penjiyev of the Sonoran Science Academy Davis-Monthan and Christopher Yetman of Canyon Del Oro High School were each awarded a $2,500 grant, plus an additional $2,500 for their schools.

They, along with 30 other middle and high school teachers from across the country, were recognized for using creative lessons to make math real for their students.
