U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan will make stops at Tucson's two largest school districts next week as part of the Strong Start, Bright Future back-to-school bus tour.

Duncan and U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will be in Tucson Wednesday, starting the day at 7 a.m. at the Tucson Unified School District's bus depot, 2025 E. Winsett Street, where he will discuss how school bus drivers are on the front lines of school safety efforts.

They will then ride the bus with students to Dodge Traditional Magnet Middle School, 5831 E. Pima Street, where Duncan and Foxx will visit with students and teachers and participate in a service project to highlight the importance of citizenship and strengthening communities.

Duncan's next stop will be at Sunnyside High School in the Sunnyside Unified School District, 1725 E. Bilby Road, at 10:30 a.m. to see how technology is being used to empower educators and engage students.

From there, Duncan will make his way out of Tucson and head to Tempe.

In addition to Duncan and Foxx, Acting Assistant Secretary Michael Yudin will be in town, visiting Marana Middle School, 11279 W. Grier Road, to highlight First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move! Active Schools" program. Joining Yudin will be retired University of Arizona Men's Basketball Head Coach Lute Olson, UA Women's Basketball Head Coach Niya Butts and UA mascots Wilbur and Wilma.

Marana Middle School Principal Kristin Reidy will issue a districtwide "60 minutes for 60 days" physical activity challenge and lead students, staff and parents in a dance-off, relay races and various sporting activities.
