A waterline break outside of Desert View High School is forcing an early release for students at the south side campus.

Because the school, 4101 E. Valencia Road, likely will not have water service for the remainder of the day, students will be released at 11 a.m.

Water and portable toilets have been brought in for students and staff. Lunch is also to be served before dismissal.

The Sunnyside Unified School District sent out a robocall to families of Desert View students informing them that they may pick up their children prior to 11 a.m. and that bus transportation has been scheduled for 11 a.m.

The waterline break was due to tree root penetration and not caused by road construction in the area.
