Online comment section serves public safety

Online commentators responding to a story about shooting victims asking Senator Flake to expand background checks are unsurprised to learn the site is being monitored by the FBI, assorted agencies and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

According to Agent Barnes of the Bureau for Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco “We love the online comment feature. It’s a great way to track the fringe out in the open. And their avatars are adorable! Before this feature we had to kick over rocks and check under trailers among the used tires and weeds. This way it’s just a click of the mouse.”
