This is worth attending. Here's the news release I received:

Roxanna Green and Pam Simon to Discuss Recent Trip to Newtown, Connecticut

Tucson - Roxanna Green and Pam Simon will be available to meet with Arizona media on Wednesday to discuss their recent trip to Newtown, Connecticut

Green and Simon were invited to Connecticut to participate in this week’s launch of the Sandy Hook Promise, an organization that will explore ways in which communities can be a voice for change and provide a forum to discuss possible solutions to the problems posed by gun violence.

Survivors and families of victims from Columbine, Virginia Tech and Aurora also attended the launch, which was announced on the one-month anniversary of the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Green and Simon met privately with some of the families whose children and family members were killed at the school on December 14.

Green, whose daughter Christina-Taylor died in the Jan. 8, 2011 Tucson tragedy, gave an angel to each family. The angels are miniature versions of the angel statue that now stands in the James D. Kriegh Park, where Christina-Taylor played baseball.

Green and Simon also joined several gun violence prevention groups in presenting over 300,000 signatures on a petition asking the Wal-Mart Corporation to discontinue selling military-style assault weapons.

Green and Simon will discuss their trip at noon on Thursday, Jan. 17 at James D. Kriegh Park, 23 West Concordia, just east of Canyon del Oro High School. Additional questions may be directed to Simon at 520-820-2517 or pamelaksimon@yahoo.com.
