Assistant City Manager Martha Durkin assumed the reins of city government today.
Durkin will act as interim city manager while the Mayor and Council search for permanent a replacement for former City Manager Richard Miranda.
Miranda retired yesterday.
Durkin said she's ready to jump in.
"I am honored to serve as Interim City Manager and build upon the City's mission to provide excellent service delivery," Durkin said in a press release. "This is a time of great synergy between our organization and the community as we all work toward a more vibrant and prosperous Tucson."
Durkin is the first woman to hold the city manager’s position.
