Motorists and others who use the Sixth Avenue underpass will have to find a new way for a few days to get to and from downtown.

The city will shut down the underpass from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Thursday this week for repainting by Graffiti Protective Coatings Inc.

Motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians will be prohibited from using the underpass during those work hours. City officials recommend those traveling north on Sixth Avenue should detour west on Toole Avenue to either Seventh Avenue or Stone Avenue.

If you’re traveling south on Sixth Avenue, you should detour west on Seventh Street to Seventh Avenue to access Toole Avenue.
