Pima County has won two 2014 Project of the Year awards from the Arizona Chapter of the American Public Works Association.

The Tres Rios Reclamation Facility won in the category of environment, while the Robles Ranch improvements project received an award in the structures category for small cities/rural communities.

County officials celebrated the reopening of Tres Rios, formerly the Ina Road Wastewater Reclamation Facility, in April as part of the $605 million Regional Optimization Master Plan.

The master plan also included the completion of the new Agua Nueva Water Reclamation Facility.

The Robles Ranch improvements included an outdoor basketball court with lighting, a shaded playground structure, a shade ramada with a picnic table, a water fountain, walkways and landscaping.

The equipment was installed near a historic community center in Three Points.

The Friends of Robles Ranch obtained Community Development Block Grants for the $253,000 project.
