The opening night will be co-presented by The University of Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, which Weil founded.
“The American healthcare system, it’s generating rivers of money that are flowing into very few pockets, and those are the pockets of the manufacturers of medical devices, the big insurers, the pharmaceutical companies,” Weil says in the movie.
“And the owners of those pockets do not want anything to fundamentally change.”
The film offers a picture not only of the broken healthcare system, but it also gives solutions, addressing what might be done to create a sustainable system for the future.
Other experts in the film include Shannon Brownlee , the author of “Overtreated: Why Too Much Medicine is Making Us Sicker and Poorer.” Brownlee is the director of the New America Health Policy Program in Washington D.C.
