Dr. Betsy Thompson, chief medical officer for the  U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' region that includes Arizona, will be in Tucson tomorrow talking to students.

The U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is the federal agency that operates the Health Insurance Marketplace (www.healthcare.gov) in Arizona.

Thompson will be in Kiewit Auditorium on the University of Arizona Medical Center campus encouraging UA students to sign up for health insurance through President Obama's health law before the March 31 deadline.

She will describe options for individuals and families in the Health Insurance Marketplace, eligibility requirements, potential cost savings, and how to enroll in a health plan.

Health Insurance Navigators from the Pima Community Access Program will be available on-site to answer questions and directly assist people with health plan enrollment.

Health Insurance Navigators will also staff a booth from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at an adjoining Diversity Celebration hosted UA Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health. That event will be located at Drachman Hall, 1295 North Martin Ave.
