Here's an incentive to run three miles on Sunday: Thin Mints at the finish line.

The Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona will hold their annual Five kilometer Thin Mint Sprint and One Mile Savannah Smiles Shuffle at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29 at Brandi Fenton Memorial Park, 3482 E. River Road.

Families, teams and individuals are invited to participate in the races, which follow a flat route through the park and the Rillito River Trail.

Children and Girl Scouts will receive an official Thin Mint Race Girl Scout patch.

Everyone gets cookies.

The race is part of the Girl Scouts Health and Wellness Initiative. In addition to the races, a children’s 100-meter “Doc Dash,” will be offered.

A Health Fair Expo will be held at the conclusion of the race offering race participants and visitors food, activities and health & awareness resources.

The U of A Softball team will also be in attendance signing autographs. Last year there were 350 race participants and the race is expected to have 400 enroll this year.

Registration is $25 for all ages on the day of the event.
