Actor and director Ted Danson, of "Cheers" and "Becker" fame, will be the featured presenter when the Western National Parks Association celebrates its 75-year partnership with the National Park Service on March 9, 2013, at Westward Look Resort, according to a news release from the Parks Association.
The association has headquarters in Oro Valley and 66 affiliate parks in 12 Western states, the news release said.
Danson also will be a featured presenter in support of WNPA at the Tucson Festival of Books, which is March 9 and 10 at the University of Arizona.
According to the Internet Movie Database, Danson was born in San Diego but raised outside of Flagstaff.
The WNPA press release described his father, Edward Danson, as "a key National Park Service adviser, an early and influential WNPA board member and a predominant advocate for the Hubbell Trading Post's designation as a National Park Service site. As a result, it remains today - the oldest, continuously operating trading post on the Navajo reservation."
