Former Marana resident Dallin Wengert suffered an automobile accident May 30 in Logan, Utah. His pregnant wife, Amy, was following him in another vehicle and witnessed the collision. Dallin was taken to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, where he was in a coma for several days before becoming responsive.

Supporters have set up a Facebook page to update Dallin's status and allow friends and family to communicate. It's received more than 25,000 likes.

Dallin will continue rehabilitation at Barrows Neurological Institute in Phoenix. Anticipating high medical costs, friends and family have arranged events to help the couple. A June 10 fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse, 8450 N. Cracker Barrel Road, raised $1,300 for the couple. On June 20, there will be another dining benefit from 4 to 8 p.m. at three Pizza Hut locations: 7665 N. La Cholla Blvd., 10605 N. Oracle Road and 8245 N. Silverbell Road. Twenty percent of orders by those who mention the Wengerts will go to the couple. There will also be coupon cards that cost $20 for sale, and all proceeds will go to the Wengerts.

There will also be a walk in the couple's honor at 7:30 a.m. June 22 at Ora Mae Harn Park, 13250 N. Lon Adams Road. There is a $10 registration fee, with all proceeds going to the family.

You can also donate directly to the family at this site.
