Guillermina Lorona of Casa Grande's Villago Middle School was one of four teachers in the state to receive Chicanos Por La Causa's 2013 Esperanza Latino Teacher Awards.

Lorona was joined by Graciela Jáuregui (Getz School, Tempe), Rich Mayorga, (Sunnyside High School) and Jeanette Scott (Cesar Chavez High School, Laveen).

Lorona and the other winners won a $5,000 stipend, as well as $2,500 for their schools. They'll also receive half off tuition toward a masters program at Grand Canyon University. The teachers will be recognized at an Oct. 10 awards ceremony in Phoenix.
