Attempting to raise funds for new playground equipment, Casas Christian School held its First Annual Color Run/Mud Run Oct. 11, garnering $17,000 put toward the cause.

As the school's K-8 students ran laps around the school to fulfill their duties in return for pledges they collected, parent volunteers threw colored powder on them. The event also featured obstacles, such as hurdles, a mud pit and hay bales.

The school, at 1801 N. La Cholla Blvd., is attempting to replace playground equipment that's nearly 30 years old.
