According to the consumer advocacy site NerdWallet, there's no better place in the state to raise a family than Oro Valley.

The town beat out Scottsdale, Buckeye, Peoria and Chandler to claim the top spot in the rankings. Other Southern Arizona locales to make the list were Sierra Vista at No. 6 and Sahuarita at No. 10. Tucson and Marana did not make the rankings.

Criteria the site used included school ratings, home ownership costs, economic growth and average income. Oro Valley stood out due to its high FBI safety rating, high median income and strong schools.
