The Foothills Optimist Club is donating $1,000 to the town of Marana to provide swimming passes to underprivileged children.

The club is presenting the check to Mayor Ed Honea at 1 p.m. June 13 at the Marana Pool, 13250 N. Lon Adams Road.

"As one of the club's major annual projects, the Foothills Optimist Club is pleased to again partner with the Town of Marana in supporting the summer swim pool pass program,” club president Wally Smith said in a news release. “This is an important way that we can support young people and our community."

It's the eighth consecutive year the Foothills Optimist Club has donated to the program, contributing a total of $15,000 over the years.
