Marana's Citizens Police Academy will educate participants about law enforcement work in a 12-week session that runs from Aug. 14 to Oct. 30.

Those who live, work or do business in Marana and age 18 and over can participate, and must not have any prior felony arrests and pass a background check before joining. The 42-hour course includes lessons on the inner workings of the Marana Police Department, as well as firearms, dog units and patrol duties.

The deadline to register is Aug. 7. To apply, visit online. A spring session will go from Jan. 23 to April 14.
