Marana's Finance Department won national recognition for its budgetary presentation skills.

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GOFA) gave the department a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, recognizing the town's Fiscal Year 2013 budget and comprehensive financial plan.

Marana's document was rated "proficient" as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device, and included 14 mandatory criteria within each category. This is the sixth consecutive year the department has received the award.

“The Town of Marana is committed to providing residents and business owners with detailed financial information that follows the highest principles of governmental budgeting,” said Marana Finance Director Erik Montague, in a news release. “We practice transparency in everything we do.” The GFOA is a nonprofit association that serves 17,500 government finance professionals in North America."
