The Government Finance Officers Association has recognized Marana's finance department with a Certificate of Achievement for the fifth consecutive year.

The awards is for the town's fiscal year 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, which the GFOA said abides by a spirit of full disclosure while delivering the town's financial situation.

“The Town believes in the importance of transparency,” Marana finance director Erik Montague said in a news release. “We are accountable to our residents and business owners and use revenues in ways that benefit the community.”

The GFOA promotes government program management, developing best practices and policies.
