Marana, Oro Valley Town Council meeting roundup

The Marana Town Council voted Oct. 15 to annex about 37 acres of residential property on the northeast corner of West Twin Peaks and West Oasis roads.

Mayor Ed Honea and council members Patti ComerfordCarol McGorray and Jon Post approved of the measure, while Dave BowenHerb Kai and Roxanne Zeigler voted against it.

The council also voted unanimously to amend the town land development code to prohibit medical marijuana dispensaries from cultivating marijuana offsite within the town.

At Oro Valley's Town Council meeting Oct. 16, the council voted unanimously to approve a grant to buy a new police motorcycle for $24,000, fund $25,000 of overtime and related expenses to increase DUI enforcement in the town and allow La Mesa RV to display and sell its RVs at Oro Valley Marketplace, at the southwest corner of North Oracle Road and East Tangerine Road. Councilman William Garner was absent.
