Candice Dunfee, who teaches third grade at Ironwood Elementary School in the Marana Unified School District, was selected to attend the 2013 Mickelson ExxonMobil Teachers Academy, which runs July 21-26 in Jersey City, N.J.

Dunfee is one of 200 teachers to earn the distinction, one of seven from Arizona, and the only one from the Tucson area. More than 1,500 teachers applied. Dunfee has taught in the district since 1999.

The academy, which was launched in 2005, is an all-expense-paid professional development program for teachers of third through fifth grades.
