Mountain View High School special education/math teacher Charles Kamb won the Tucson Values Teachers/OfficeMax January 2013 Teacher Excellence Award.

On Jan. 29, Kamb received a $100 OfficeMax gift card, a bag of school supplies in a surprise presentation.

“Mr. Kamb is not just a high school teacher; he's a Special Education teacher.  He's been working with my son, Thomas, both as teacher and IEP case manager for the last 4 years," wrote Mountain View parent Lorell O'Dell in a nomination letter. "As Thomas prepares to graduate in the class of 2013, I have to reflect on all of the hard work and dedication Mr. Kamb has showed throughout the years.  He never gave up on Thomas. I also reflect on the unbelievable compassion, understanding and guidance he's provided to all of us along the way."
