Quirky regional foods such as prickly pear pads, agave nectar and dried chiles will be available at the Heritage Foods Festival.

Oro Valley Farmers' Market will host the festival from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 24. There will be samples and food preparation demonstrations, including Elizabeth's Garden's "How to Prepare Nopales and Cactus Pads for Eating" at 10 a.m.

The event is at Oro Valley Town Hall, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive. The festival also goes from 8 a.m. to noon at Jesse Owens Park, 400 S. Sarnoff Drive.
