Oro Valley is just about as safe as suburbs get, according to a real estate company.

Movato Real Estate listed the town as the eighth-safest suburb. Carmel, Indiana topped the list.

Movoto considered 120 of the largest suburbs of the 50 most populous cities in the U.S. and applied criteria, based on data from the FBI’s 2012 national crime report, which included: property crimes per capita, violent crimes per capita and the chances of being the victim of a crime.

“We are proud of this new distinction,” said Oro Valley Mayor Satish Hiremath in a news release. “The Movoto ranking affirms what we’ve known all along: Oro Valley is one of the safest communities in America, and we have one of the best police departments in the nation.”
