The Oro Valley Police Department's Citizen Academy will deliver 36 hours of teaching to get the community up to speed about police work.

Participants will be able to join in a ride-along with an officer, witness a SWAT demonstration and talk to officers about their jobs.

The academy will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Oro Valley Police Tangerine Substation, 1920 E. Tangerine Road.

Space in the free program is open to those age 18 and over.
