The portion of West Picture Rocks Road that runs through Saguaro National Park West will receive maintenance.

Chief Ranger Paul Austin of the park told Citizens for Picture Rocks about the construction at a July 16 meeting, said Picture Rocks resident Albert Lannon.

Scheduled to start in November, the work will consist of new signage, rumble strips to signify upcoming curves in the road and the removal of blind turnouts and trimming of vegetation. Crews will also do shoulder work to smooth out sections that have been worn away over time, leading to hazardous drop-offs.
