The Fountains at La Cholla retirement community is celebrating the mystique of Route 66 in a series of events that extends throughout the summer.

The events will showcase food, music and culture from various areas the road travels through. Residents and employees have constructed replicas of landmarks to post throughout the complex, 2001 W. Rudasill Road.

Events include an outdoor screening of "The Long, Long Trailer" at 6:30 p.m. July 26, a scavenger hunt at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 8, a dessert tasting event at 2 p.m. Aug. 22 and an outdoor screening of "How to Marry a Millionaire" at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 30.
