A northwest side retirement home is raising funds for Alzheimer's disease awareness.

The Fountains at La Cholla, 2001 W. Rudasill Road, is participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's, which benefits the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. The event is Oct. 19 at Reid Park, 900 S. Randolph Way.

The Fountains is hosting a fundraiser on its campus at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 11. Participants are asked to wear purple and donate $3 to take part in a walk around the perimeter of the Fountains. Those who finish the most laps in 30 minutes will receive prizes.
