An Oro Valley-sponsored business promotion sparked the town's economy in May and June, tallying $52,202 in spending at local businesses during a period of eight weeks.

During the Shop OV Summer campaign, Oro Valley shoppers who spent $25 or more turned in their receipts to be entered into weekly drawings. Throughout the campaign, 896 receipts were collected, totaling in the $52,202 figure.

Oro Valley's Martha Duchon won the grand prize, a $500 Oro Valley Marketplace gift card.

“Sales tax is a major source of revenue for the Town,” said Mayor Satish Hiremath, in a news release. “Shopping locally is a direct investment in our community to fund public safety and infrastructure.”
