Thornydale Elementary School was one of 18 beneficiaries of grants from the Christina-Taylor Green Memorial Foundation.

The Marana Unified School District school, at 7651 N. Oldfather Drive, received $6,300 for math and science materials. The foundation donated a total of $166,640 to Southern Arizona nonprofits, as well as the NY Says Thank You Foundation. The donations, announced Aug. 22, targeted children's arts, athletics and academics. Each year, the foundation selects nonprofits to receive grants.
