Rick has spent his entire photography career in Arizona. He grew up in Phoenix, graduated from Arizona State University, and interned and freelanced for the Mesa Tribune. His first full-time job was staff photographer at the Tucson Citizen, where he covered UA football and basketball extensively, including the NCAA tournament and Final Four. In 1995, he moved back to the Phoenix area to lead the photo staff at the rapidly expanding East Valley Tribune. He coordinated photo coverage of the Super Bowl, the 2001 World Series, the NBA playoffs and two Fiesta Bowl national championships. He returned to Tucson in 2004 as the Daily Star's director of photography to lead a talented, award-winning staff.
