A man was arrested Friday in connection to a midtown slaying and faces a second-degree murder charge.

Sonny Jean, 29, was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of the murder charge, and on an aggravated assault charge, said Sgt. Pete Dugan, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

On Thursday shortly after 10 p.m., police responded to the 1200 block of East Lee Street to a report of a shooting.

The neighborhood is between North Mountain and Park avenues.

When officers arrived, they found two men who had been shot. Victor Garcia, Victor Garcia 28, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 24-year-old man was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, Dugan said.

Homicide detectives said that Jean, Garcia and the injured man all knew each other, and were inside the residence on Lee Street.

A fight broke out between Jean and one of the victims, and the fight continued outside the residence, Dugan said. He said Jean fired gunshots and both victims were struck multiple times.

Detectives ask that anyone with information call 911 or 88-CRIME.
