One man was arrested and another has been identified as a suspect in a strong-armed robbery at a Circle K in the community of Catalina.
Detectives are searching for a third man in the April 7 case at the convenience store at 16054 N. Oracle Road.
On Tuesday, Jose Williams Rizo, 18, was taken into custody after Pima County Sheriff's Department investigators received tips about the case, said sheriff's Chief Deputy Chris Nanos.
Rizo was arrested on kidnapping and booked into the Pima County jail.
Robbery/assault detectives are looking for suspect Peter Robert Ortiz, 21, who is also known as "Deals" by taggers in the area, Nanos said. An arrest warrant has been issued for Ortiz.
The third suspect, who was wearing a black mask during the robbery, has not been identified, Nanos said.
The robbery occurred shortly before 2 a.m. When deputies arrived at the Circle K, they found out that the clerk was getting ready to mop the floor when three men walked into the store and went behind the counter, said Nanos.
The men filled white plastic bags with cartons of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol. Then one of the men physically held back the clerk and told her to "stay put," while the robbery continued.
The men ran away, heading south from the store.
The clerk was not injured, Nanos said.
Anyone with information about Ortiz is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
