Two people were arrested in separate incidents at the Nogales Port of Entry last week in connection with trying to smuggle drugs across the border.
In the first incident, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers sent Clara Mungaray-Martinez, 40, of Mexico, for secondary inspection.
A CBP drug dog alerted to the truck's gas tank. Officers found 36 packages of marijuana, weighing about 73 pounds and valued at $33,000, according to a news release from CBP.
In the second incident, officers sent Elizabeth Borquez, 32, of Tucson, for an additional inspection the Honda sedan she was driving.
A drug dog alerted to the presence of drugs and officers found 4 pounds of methamphetamine and 15 pounds of cocaine in the car. The drugs had a combined worth of about $202,000.
