Two men have been arrested in several southeast Tucson burglaries.

Jose Pina, 39, and Juan Ortega, 35, were booked into the Pima County jail in connection with three burglaries this month at Rita Ranch homes, Sgt. Chris Widmer, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department, said in a news release.

In each incident, burglars forced entry during daytime hours while no one was home.

“During their investigation, detectives determined that Pina pawned property from two of the burglaries,” Widmer said.

On Oct. 23, detectives served a search warrant at Pina’s home in the 10100 block of East Desert Gorge Drive and found additional property from the burglaries, Widmer said.

Further investigation led detectives to Ortega’s apartment in the 6200 block of East Pima Street. A search warrant was served Oct. 24 and detectives found more property belonging to the victims, Widmer said.

Both men are facing two counts each of second-degree burglary and felony theft. Pina also faces two counts of trafficking in stolen property.
