A 79-year-old Tucson woman was bitten by a poisonous snake this morning while gardening.

The woman was trimming bushes at her east side home in the 3400 block of South Camino Seco between East Stella and Escalante roads, when the baby rattler bit her finger, Capt. Barrett Baker, spokesman for the Tucson Fire Department, said.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
