A man who received bad service at a Tucson sushi restaurant still left his incompetent server a 73 percent tip, at least according to his credit card bill.

The man dined at the Foothills restaurant in late July, according to a report from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

“He said the service that he received was not adequate and he did not leave any tip,” on the $13.79 bill, the report stated. Yet when he received his credit card statement a couple of weeks ago, it reflected at $10 tip.

He called the restaurant manager, who agreed there was something fishy about the excessive charge on the receipt.

The restaurant credited $10 back to the man’s account and gave him a gift certificate “because of the inconvenience.”

When the manager returned the money to the patron, the restaurant — not the customer — became the victim of financial fraud in the case, according to the report.

The restaurant manager opted not to file charges.

Instead she fired the waitress.
