A 17-year-old Tucsonan was sentenced to 7 years probation on Monday for his role in a carjacking.

Israel Godoy was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to kidnapping and unlawful presence in a means of transportation.

Godoy had been accused of the carjacking and kidnapping of a woman in November 2013. Police said the woman was gassing up her vehicle at the Circle K at West Valencia Road at South Camino de Oeste when Godoy and another teen approached her.

Godoy’s defense attorney said his client turned himself into police after the incident and has since accepted responsibility.

Godoy apologized to the victim and said he plans turn his life around.
