CHANDLER, Ariz. — Police in Chandler are mourning one of their own after a detective was killed while riding a motorcycle off-duty.

Police spokesman Joseph Favazzo says 41-year-old Sean McKenzie was out riding his motorcycle Saturday afternoon near State Route 347 and Riggs when he was involved in a crash.

Favazzo did not disclose any other details about the incident.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the crash caused the northbound lanes of SR 347 to be shut down for at least two hours.

Favazzo says McKenzie was a detective for the department's family crimes unit.
