A pickup and a U.S. Customs and Border Protection vehicle crashed in Sonoita Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Sonoita-Elgin Fire District were dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. to State Route 83 at milepost 41, said Battalion Chief Kevin Venos.

Two people in the truck were injured in the rear-end collision and treated by paramedics before being taken by ambulance to University of Arizona Medical Center, said Venos.

Both were in stable condition, Venos said.

Two officers in the Customs and Border Protection SUV were not injured, Venos said.

The crash occurred in the southbound lane of State Route 83, said Officer Carrick Cook of the state Department of Public Safety.

No further information was immediately available about the crash, Cook said.
