Sheriff’s deputies will be running training drills at an eastside Tucson school for the next six weeks.

People living near Lyons Elementary School, 7555 E. Dogwood St. in the area of South Pantano and East Escalante roads, may hear screaming, shouting and simulated gunfire as part of the training, Deputy Tracy Suitt, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release.

“The training will consist of simulated shooting drills and other dynamic tactical exercises. This is to provide deputies with a reality based training environment,” Suitt said. “Our goal is to have as little impact on the surrounding neighborhood as possible, and not inconvenience residents.”

Training will run from 2 to 11 p.m. beginning Monday and continuing through Aug. 7.

Neighbors with questions or concerns should call 351-6193.
