The Arizona Department of Public Safety will be accepting applications for cadets, officers and volunteer reserve officers beginning Monday.

Applications will be accepted online at until through 5 p.m. July 15, 2013.

Positions are available statewide with the exception of the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Assignments are based on critical need areas. Applicants can choose a location where they would like to be assigned but there is no guarantee of a specific assignment. Officers who are hired will be assigned to areas throughout the state based on the existing needs of the department, according to a news release.

Interested applicants should visit the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s website at to submit a job interest card for cadet or officer to ensure DPS is able to update them on the application process.

If applicants have not already done so, they are encouraged to visit prior to July 8 to create an account. An account will have to be established to begin the department’s online application process.

The written test will be administered July 23 in Phoenix. All candidates that successfully complete the written examination will be invited to the physical fitness examination the next day. Candidates who successfully complete both the written and physical tests will move on to the Qualifications Appraisal Boards that begin July 25.

Successful candidates will be placed on an 18-month eligibility list that will be used to fill vacancies in the November 2013 academy and future academies.
