The driver of a tandem dump truck lost control of the vehicle and drove off the roadway, causing the rear bed to become lodged atop the front bed, authorities said.

The driver was traveling eastbound on Tangerine Road, near Dove Mountain Boulevard, when he left the roadway and crashed in the desert, said Capt. Adam Goldberg, a Northwest fire spokesman.

The 67-year-old driver had cuts and scratches and was treated at the scene but refused to be taken to the hospital, Goldberg said.

He was wearing a seatbelt.

The truck was hauling dirt and had serious damage the front and rear, he said.

Marana Police Department is investigating the crash.
