A Mexican man was arrested Wednesday at the Port of Nogales for attempting to smuggle more than 8,000 pounds of marijuana into the United States.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the commercial facility referred a 30-year-old Nogales, Sonora, man for additional inspection of a tractor-trailer he was driving. After a narcotics detection dog alerted to the presence of drugs in the trailer, officers found 298 bales of marijuana worth more than $4 million.

The drugs and truck were seizure by officers. The driver was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
