Instead of tossing those old medications in the trash or down the drain, bring them to today's Dispose-A-Med event sponsored by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Representatives will be accepting unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medication from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the Eastside Service Center, 7575 E. Speedway off South Prudence Road.

Prescription and over-the-counter tablets, capsules, liquids, and creams will be collected. Metal or glass inhalation aerosol bottles, syringes and Epi-pens will not be accepted. Drugs from commercial organizations will not be accepted, Deputy Tracy Suitt, spokesman for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, said in a news release.

The service is free and anonymous.
